Young People's CDs



I am curently Working on "Mastering" the CDs. I have nearly completed the Talent Night and Spiritual Songs Cds. The Talent Night CD is aproxamatly 45 Minutes long. Thirty-Five differnt Spiritual songs were recorded (with several repeated at different meetings, raising the total to 40). This is more then will fit on one CD, I have yet to decide if I should cut out the repeats and songs that were not sung well and in doing so, fit everything on to one CD, or instead make two CDs out of it. Below You will find an initial track listing for the Talent Night CD. I currently am having some trouble getting all the artists to show up in the HTML view, so I have included an image file (that doesnt line up nicely, but is in the same order). The information is encoded into the Mp3s so windows media player sees and automatically sorts all the artists (One Feature Of Ordering Mp3 CDs = Encoded Title and Artist information as well as other information!). Please look over the track listing and see if you can see any ovous mistakes I have made so far. Thanks! (in return, you get a sneek peak at what the CD will look like!)

Slow Progress today, My Laptop ran out of hard drive space, as the audio is now takeing up over 20 GB of my hard drive space! I have transfered some files to my family's computer and freed up enough space to keep going. I have started work on the Bible Studies. This year I will be breaking the Bible Studies into more tracks so it is easyier to resume listening if you do not listen streight through. Most tracks are 3 to 5 minutes long. This is also to the advantage of those with Mp3 players as it will allow them more flexablity with the files. Speaking of Mp3s, the Bible Studies will probably be encoded at a very low Bitrate (quality) so that the files will fit on to fewer Mp3 cds and possably will even be avalable over the internet. More on this to come.

Since I couldn't really work on the Audio today while I was shuffleing files to free up more space, I jumped ahead a bit and started work on an ordering site. I'm back in busness today!! YAH!!! I have been running the Bible Studies through a hiss filter (that removes the background his generated by the laptop during recording). Each time I run it, it takes over my laptop for 30-40 minutes! In between those runs I have managed to make a minor update to the test ordering website (Thank you to Laura :-) ) this update allows the possablity to order more then one of the same CD, (if you have a CD burner, there is realy no point in you doing so as I dont mind people makeing copies of the CDs) but the option is now there, and it gets arround another printing problem that arrose. If you would like to help me, pretend to order some things, and print out the order form and make sure everything shows up in the printout (but dont send it to me!) and let me know if it works or not. As of about 10 minutes from now all the noise should be removed from the Bible Studies!!! Now it is just off to breaking it into tracks. After that, I have to figure out what quality to make the Mp3s so I can get them to fit on one CD and Possably even be put on the internet for people with fast internet connections to download. Now comes the interesting work for me! Oh ya, good news for everyone: I got lots of free stuff yesterday on the way to Bible Study, I managed to stop at CompUSA and Best Buy and get free CD lables and a free 30 pack of slim CD cases (after rebates)!!! What that means for you is: cheaper CDs! Now we all just have to pray that I can find some Free 100 Packs of CDs! Ok, I have to get a little side tracked now and go mow the lawn as it is finally a nice day outside and the lawn is REALLY tall.

The Bible Studies are all split into Tracks and converted to MP3s!!! I also have made a Label for the Talent Night CDs (after fighing with a poorly developed program to make them). I will most likely lable the Talent night CDs and hand lable the Bible Studies, as labels are quite abit of work and are more expensive then the CDs them selves (when you add initial cost, with ink cost, and even weight in shipping, not to mention the time to print and apply them all). Now I have to move on to the Yp Songs, and figureing out how to fit everything most effecently on to CDs, and figureing if it is possable to place at lest some of the files online.

Ah, the pains of getting back into the 'real' world, back to work (on the farm anyways) and the necessity of leaving the "nice isolated bubble of Grove city." Anyhow, below is information on the file sizes for the refrence (and keeping streight in my head) of those who may be able to place them online. Curently, the Bible studies are broken down into ~5 minute tracks (86 of them to be precise) but if it is more convient to have each day as a single large file for the internet (as I imagine it would be) it would not require too much work for me to do that, but I dont really want to go through the extra work if it will not be used.

As we speak (or as I type) i am learning if I can encode all of this to Windows Media format and solve a lot of space problems, as those files sizes are much smaller then Mp3, without much loss in quality so... more to come on that later.

Ok, so here is an updated chart. I had to learn a wee bit of strange stuff, but I was able to get a specialized version of Windows media 9 series encoder working to encode the files properly but, IT WORKED AND WORKED WELL! The (much) smaller WMA files sound BETTER then the Mp3s (at least to my ears). Below are both charts (combined and colorcoded) showing you the file sizes.

A full day of defending computers from attack! This website (via my computer) is secure from the Blaster worm. If you do not think your computer is secure, e-mail me or IM me and I will help you secure your computer (ask Laura if you dont believe me :-D). In the midst of that, I did manage to remove the Hiss from most of the evening singing, and hopefully will begin to split it into tracks tomorow (or today)!

Only a few conversions left and I can start burning Master CDs!!! 100% of the audio is ready to be put on to Audio CDs and 95% of it is ready for MP3 and WMA CDs!!! Now on to the real work of figuring out distrubution costs and fun (NOT) things like that! Oh ya, one thing I need a bit of help with: The man who spoke to us in the evening on Monday (the guy who's name Tony couldn't pronounce, and who gave the gosple thursday (I Think it was thursday)), how do you spell his full name? ¿¿¿¿Jonathin Croitis???? I need to know as soon as possable, so if you could ask arround :-) (maby someone like Mr. Barry would know ::wink wink::) Thanks!

A day of dizzying files. I am realizing it can be hard to keep track of LOTS and LOTS of files! I have well over 400 audio files on my computer right now; copies of the same thing in WAV, MP3 and WMA! trying to make sure I have each file in each format and in the correct place is proving to be quite the task! I **think** I have all the MP3s all organized, and there are 164 of them, so times that by three and I hope that is what I end up with! Any luck with the name??? I need that ASAP! Thanks again!
